The weekend is here

Better late than never:

Sat 2-4pm is The Big Read kickoff event--Double Feature: Tom Sawyer and The Adventures of Mark Twain. Intermission surprises, fun and games. 2pm at the Oneonta Theatre on Chestnut St. Free. 431-2080. Presented by Foothills and The Big Read.

10:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Craft Demonstration Day, Sidney Memorial Public Library. For info: 563-1200.

10 a.m., Stitch 'n' Pitch, Cooperstown, National Baseball Hall of Fame; featuring free needle arts instruction and activities. For info: www.StitchNPitch.com or 547-7200.

Looking ahead:

Mon, 7 p.m., Woodcarving demonstration, Schoharie Free Library; free, open to the public, with Walt LeClair of Altamont.

Thurs, The Tri-County AEYC will be offering a free children's celebration for the Month of the Young Child. Line up with the toddlers and preschoolers to join the parade at 9:45am on the corner of Market St. and Chestnut St. Ext. The parade will begin at 10am with a march down main street and continue to the Oneonta YMCA. Feel free to bring banners, posters, and musical instruments for the parade. After the parade, bubble man Doug Rougeux will entertain the children at the YMCA.
