The weekend

You've got a couple more days to enjoy both the Otsego County Fair in Morris (ends Sun 8th) and the Sunshine Fair in Cobleskill (ends Sat the 7th).

Aug 6th: Another Fabulous First Friday kicks off the month of August, starting at 5pm on Main Street in Oneonta. Visit mainstreetoneonta.com.

Sat Aug 7th brings the Annual Youth Fishing Derby to Hodges Pond in Neahwa Park, at 4pm.

Also on Sat, it's Kid's Day at the Oneonta Farmer's Market, 9am - 2pm.

On Sunday, Aug 8th at 7:30pm, the Cooperstown Chamber Music Festival presents "Schumann and Chopin at 200", at 7:30 pm at The Farmers' Museum. Pricing and details: www.cooperstownmusicfest.org.

Teddy Bear's Picnic Concert at 3pm on Sunday: The Oneonta Community Concert Band performs in the upper level of Wilber Park, in the pavilion. The concert features multiple groups and shows and a free drawing for a teddy bear. Donations accepted. Details: 607-432-7977.

Looking ahead:

Monday at 1pm the Sidney Memorial Public Library (in Sidney) will show a family water themed movie, Surf's Up. There is no need to sign-up; just show up for some fun.

Wed Aug 11 from 10am-2pm: The 2nd Annual Children’s Festival at Delaware Opportunities Inc (35430 State Hwy 10, Hamden, NY). The theme is "Connecting Families through Play". This free event will be held rain or shine and offers fun activities to families, caregivers, and children of all ages. Food, refreshments and much more will be available. Info: 607-746-1620.

Also on Wed, at 6:30pm: Meatballs, a zany musical duo performs at the Sidney Library (free and family friendly).

Thurs afternoons in August at Hanford Mills Museum: Kids aged 5-7 can enjoy hands-on programs from 3 to 4:30 pm. Each afternoon features demonstrations of the Mill’s waterwheel and woodworking machinery, and time to play 19th century games along with a project to make and take home. No registration is required, and children can attend one, several or all Thursday afternoon programs. The fee is $6 for Museum members, $7.50 for non-members. Lucia and Levi return to Neahwa Park on Thursday at 7pm, bringing a close to this season's free concert series.
