The weekend (woo hoo)
Saturday, October 23, 4 pm The Puppet People present "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" featuring hand crafted marionettes and special effects. Spooky fun for all ages! $5 per family.The Roxbury Arts Center, Vega Mt. Rd., Roxbury.
Saturday at Glimmerglass State Park, at noon, is a Spooktacular Halloween event (that's all the info I have).
Halloween comes to Southside Mall this weekend, Sun Oct 24 from 12 - 3 pm.
Also on Sunday, the First United Methodist Church of Oneonta presents their Annual Community Halloween Party. A dinner of hot dogs and chicken soup will be served at 4pm, followed by pumpkin carving, games, and a haunted house. Pick out a pumpkin at the church, or bring your own. Everyone is encouraged to come in costume. An optional donation of canned or dry foods will go to help the Salvation Army Food Pantry. The Church is located on the corner of Church and Chestnut. Sat Oct 16th 12:30-4pm Science Saturday featuring "Professor Snape's Potions Class" and "Advanced Potions Class." Drop by the Science Discovery Center at SUNY Oneonta for Professor Snape's Potions, featuring hands-on chemistry activities for children aged 2-13 with their grownups. Additional advanced potions workshops with SUNY faculty are being offered, one at 1pm for ages 5-9 and another at 2:30pm for ages 10 and up. In Advanced Potions Class, childen will watch as colors appear, disappear, and re-appear, create potions and take home their own glowing creation. On Sat, Oct 9th, St. Mary's School presents their 5th Annual Fall Family Festival. Pancake breakfast is served from 9-11am, then the festival opens. There will be games, raffles, crafts, vendors, and giant inflatables at this popular local event.

On Sunday, join Oneonta World of Learning (OWL) at the 17th Annual Ricky J. Parisian Pit Run 10K Road Race, in Neahwa Park. OWL will be offering children's activities and crafts with a theme of 'healthy muscles and bones' before and during the races (around 9:30am-noon) Have the kids wear their tennis shoes; they'll also want to participate in the Pit Run's Fun Run. Also on Sunday, at Colonial Ridge Golf, there is a Fall Festival to support relay for life, from 11am-4pm. There will be story telling, parachute games, and face painting in addition to a craft fair featuring holiday specials, jewelry, chirstmas, halloween stuff, local authors, and a silent auction.
